Breastfeeding and carrying success

by Rosa Sorribas

Baby carrying increases connection, and this connection facilitates breastfeeding. Though we all know that breastfeeding is the best nutrition a baby can get, but it is not always easy. Sometimes, it can be due to problems that arise during pregnancy, sometimes it’s the birth itself, or due to c-sections, and finally, in situations where the baby is separated from the mother. Baby carrying, and kangaroo mother care helps restore this relationship. Since its beginnings in Colombia, this connection has been proven to be an excellent tool not only improving breastfeeding outcomes, but also the babies’ overall health. As Dr Nils Bergman said: “Nothing an infant can or cannot do makes sense, except in light of mother’s body”. Through carrying, we can increase the breastfeeding frequency, very important for a newborn, and also to help the baby to latch in a better position when there are difficulties like a tongue-tie, retrognatia and more. Using a baby carrier properly equals a better breastfeeding experience. In this session, Rosa will discuss how baby carrying affects lactation. She will also include how people are doing it around the world using different types of carriers.

The session will take place November 2, 2018 at the conference in Barcelona at the Diagonal Gates Hotel.

Rosa established Crianza Natural in 2002, and became an IBCLC in 2008. In 2013, she established her school under Crianza Natural and has since taught students throughout Spain and Portugal. In November 2019, Rosa will be speaking on breastfeeding at a conference in Poland.
